Come visit with me as I stitch and craft my way from one Christmas to the next - I like to have Christmas projects close by me all year. I have a particular fondness for Santas and Angels. If you have the time, leave a comment so I know you've visited.

Gifted Gorgeousness -February report

Another month gone, I can hardly believe it.  This year seems to be sliding away from me super quickly.  I've made good progress on Christmas Dreams, and I'm now about a third of the way through the fourth page. The bottom section of the page will stitch up faster - there are actual blocks of solid colour!  I have adjusted to stitching sideways, but I do wish I had marked the symbols on my floss cards more thoughtfully.  I just copied them as they appeared on the floss list - if I had been thinking clearly, I would have first turned the floss list round sideways, and then copied the symbols.  Though I suppose it's extra exercise for my grey matter - recognizing that the 'J' I am searching for is really the 'n' and the '3' is the 'm'.  It's the arrows, triangles and 'feathers' that are trickiest - but I think I have it mastered now.  A less stubborn person might re-mark the floss cards,  but I'm pretty stubborn!

Here's where I stopped last night.

My other stitching in the past month was two Christmas ornaments, Christmas gifts for my oldest great-niece and great-nephew.

So, it will be more of the same next month -  when I finish this page of Christmas Dreams I will make a few ornaments. Then back to Christmas Dreams ...

Oh boy, it would drive me nuts to stitch a project sideways so I admire you for doing it! I love following your progress though...even if it is sideways lol!

Love the names -Chloe/Dylan. You ornaments for these special relatives are gorgeous! I too am going to try to get a jump start on 2016 ornament stitching!
HAED? Is this your 1st? I have 6 designs and have started one twice...I did not like how it looked, ugh! I used 25ct Lugana, 1 strand, full cross. Your looks beautiful. Do you full cross or tent?

Your HAED is growing beautifully with all those colors. I'm a fan of your ornament making skills.

Marie, it's my second HAED. I stitched Jolly Old Fellow in 2009-2012. He is quite stunning, if I do say so myself. I am stitching on 22 count and just doing continental stitch 2 strands of floss. I did the same for JOF and it worked out well.

Thanks for taking part in GG this month. You're making great progress on your Santa and the little ornies give the instant satisfaction of a finish or two each month.

Jo, one of the things my first HAED taught me was that my favourite part of the stitching process was actually the finishing. Delayed gratification is not my thing!

Thank you, Julie.

Thank you, Annie. Sideways stitching is getting easier with practice. One advantage is that there are only 6 charts in each row, so I should be able to complete a row in about 3 months. Which would give a total stitching time (for 11 rows of charts) of almost 3 years. Time will tell.

I'm with you on the delayed gratification! You've got the perfect balance there - a huge long term project and some quick wins in between. Those beaded ornaments are beautiful.

Thank you, Mini. I am totally in awe of the HAED designers. The detail is amazing. The way they get shade and light into the design is incredible. But I'm mnot such a fan of the confetti stitching! I love making the Christmas ornaments. It's an indulgence!

Thank you, Justine. I'm really enjoying it! I think everyone needs a hobby ... maybe even a obsession ... and I found mine!

Christmas Dreams is looking fabulous but I am confused, why are you stitching it sideways? Cute ornies, too.
