Come visit with me as I stitch and craft my way from one Christmas to the next - I like to have Christmas projects close by me all year. I have a particular fondness for Santas and Angels. If you have the time, leave a comment so I know you've visited.

A new journey begins ...

I have started the New Year with a new project - HAED's Christmas Dreams (artwork by Dona Gelsinger, cross stitch adaptation by Michele Sayetta).

It is the largest project I have ever undertaken. I am stitching on 22 count, so the finished design will be 72 cm wide x 48 cm high (28.5" x 19").  I was quite daunted when I downloaded the chart, and got 74 A4 pages printed.  Luckily, there were only 66 pages of chart.  My floor frame wasn't wide enough to accommodate the fabric, so I have turned the project sideways. I started my project at the bottom left hand corner, on chart page 56, which I have just completed, and I have now moved on to page 45.

Christmas Dreams, 10/1/16

My aim is to complete a page a month this year, and also to stitch one or two Christmas ornaments per month.  It's pretty fluid.  I'll see how it pans out!

What a stunning project!!! If I was ever brave enough to try a HEAD (as if that would ever happen lol) I would definitely go for that kind of chart:)) I'm really looking forward to following your journey on this one, as well as all your new ornaments!

What an amazing start. HAEDs are enormous, but so gorgeous. Might I ask how many threads you are using to stitch this. I began a HAED design many years ago on 22ct Hardanger fabric using two threads over 1 and full crosses and it soon became too tight to work comfortably. I sat the project aside and have not got back to it...

OK, I have just seen your detailed notes about this project in your side bar... please disregard my question above... My apologies :) You are obviously happy with the coverage of 2 threads on 22ct in tent stitch - I had been contemplating the same as I think the ship has long since sailed on which my eyes would let me work long hours over 1 on a much higher count... I tip my hat to those able to do it - LOL. Yours looks great in the photo anyway.

That's an epic chart! I'm thinking it will be a three year project! Looking forward to following your progress each month.

I had the same experience with my first HAED. Iam doing what I found worked best for me with that one - two threads tent stitch.
